About Newhouse Community Group
Our group is for persons seriously committed to SMCC as their home church and to becoming or being a fully devoted fully delighted follower of Jesus. We meet on Sunday evenings. Typically, we have open social time for the first half hour and a discussion related to the Sunday sermon thereafter. We dig into the sermon and its scriptural bases for greater understanding and for application to our lives, usually by accessing the pre-prepared questions. If the group chooses, we will pursue an alternative topic for a few or several weeks.
We meet regularly through the fall, winter, and spring, but we do skip on holiday weeks, such as Christmas and Mother's Day. During the Christmas season we usually have a dinner party together, and we have social gatherings once or twice during the summer to stay connected as well as to provide encouragement and support. We will consider and may engage in some community support project during the year, as we have in the past.
We meet Sundays from 6:15 p.m. to 8:15-8:30. Although some members are younger or older, most are in their 50's and 60's. We do not provide child care.
