SMCC Pastors are happy to perform ceremonies that honor the Biblical covenant of marriage. A few preliminary stipulations we have;

  • For Christians marrying Christians (defined as people who have given their allegiance to the Biblical Jesus and intend to follow him for the rest of their lives); sexual intimacy is designed for the marriage covenant, so any current activity in this regard needs to be suspended until the wedding day. A Pastor is happy to provide more clarity on this issue.
  • Our Pastors will marry non-Christians to each other, however they will not marry a Christian to a non-Christian or two people that subscribe to differing religious beliefs. If two people come from different religious backgrounds, but neither are practicing or committed to that faith, it is possible that our Pastors would perform the ceremony. Please discuss this further with a Pastor.
  • The Bible defines marriage as a union between one man and one woman, therefore our Pastors do not perform ceremonies for same sex partners.
  • Pastors only agree to perform ceremonies after meeting or discussing details with a couple. If there is any cause for concern, pastors reserve the right to request more premarital counseling sessions or choose not to officiate the ceremony.
  • The honorarium for a wedding officiant is $300. Please make arrangements to compensate a Pastor directly.
